The Shine Awards of Excellence showcase the talent, skills and innovation of the province’s professional interior designers.

Since 1981, the Shine Awards of Excellence competition has demonstrated interior excellence and innovation of Registered Interior Designers in BC, in both residential and commercial design. Each year, a distinguished Awards jury reviews numerous stunning entries across eleven project categories. Awards of Excellence or Awards of Merit are presented to the outstanding submissions, culminating with the prestigious Interior Designer of the Year award.  Every submission is judged on their own merit and therefore there is no prescribed number of Merit or Excellence awards in any given category. Eligible projects must be completed within the last two years.

As lead designers, Registered Interior Designers (RIDs) consistently raise the profile of the interior design industry through their commitment to excellence and high professional standards. The RID designation assures individuals or companies seeking design services that the designer has a responsibility to always act in the best interest of public health and safety.

The professional standards set by IDIBC, represent the Institute’s commitment to excellence and ensure the public can differentiate the value of a Registered Interior Designer. IDIBC’s mission is to regulate the profession of interior design using a progressive regulatory framework to serve the public interest and advance the interior design profession.
